Hot Rod Cameras at NAB

Dear Friends,

We wanted to take a moment to let you know we’ll be at NAB in April and providing the best and most relevant coverage of new products for our clients.  Expected to be big this year are 4K cameras, anamorphic lenses, firmware updates, UAVs, and other forms of new technology.  If you are shooting with an Arri, Red, Panasonic, Blackmagic, Digital Bolex, AJA, Canon or Sony cameras you are not going to want to miss what we reveal!

Beginning April 12 we’re posting short and relevant NAB coverage on our social media platforms, Twitter, Facebook, and soon a brand new Instagram page.  We are also excited to announce a brand this new website.  In one place you’ll find our NAB coverage, as well as information about a unique new creation called the “Infrared Cinema Project.” You’ll also soon find information and instructions on various forms of cinema related technology, including commentary and criticism found no where else!

Ronin Workshop

In January 2015 Hot Rod Cameras hosted the first ever Ronin training workshop on the West Coast.  More than 50 people packed into Hot Rod Cameras to learn from professionals, get hands-on learning with the latest handheld gimbal operating techniques and have a great time!

Our special guest speakers were:

Adam Margolis from Big Man Productions. Adam screened a series of Ronin shots from a variety of network television series.

Pedro Guimaraes, SOC – Founder of CineMilled, Pedro showcased all his latest Ronin specific inventions including the QuickPlate and extension arms.

We are waiting for access to a monochrome D16 in order to shoot a quick native B&W D16 vs. desaturated color D16 to illustrate the difference between the cameras.

Quickly here’s the real advantages of a native monochrome camera
– No CFA (color filter array), this means greater sensitivity on the D16 maximum ISO jumps from 400 to 800.
– More visible resolution.
– More accurate total range.
